Bodies are messy. They leak, they shed; they spread outside of their containers via microbiome plumes, blurring boundaries. Our microbiomes mix in space, our bodies in turn sense the shape of space and the presence of other bodies around us. We are sensing things. Sensing beings.

Between interoception, the body’s internal sensory processing system and proprioception, the body’s system of sensing within and moving through space, it’s a lot to process. Bring in sight, smell, hearing, touch and taste, it’s a wonder a body manages with all these competing inputs.
